Allah Is NOT The Greatest

Several news organizations have reported that Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan shouted Allahu Akbar as he began to murder unarmed American soldiers at Ft. Hood. All of the reports that I have read translate that Arabic phrase "God is great". Everything that I have read and studied (not being a student of Arabic, but having studied Islam for several years) indicates that the proper translation would be "Allah is the greatest". It is not simply an adjective but the superlative. What's the difference you ask? In the mind and vocabulary of the religious extremist (certainly some would suggest here I have expertise - being a conservative Evangelical Christian) this phrase indicates that Allah is the supreme ruler of the universe to whom all must submit! Anyone NOT submitting to Allah as the ultimate authority in everything, and to Mohammad His prophet may well be DESERVING of death. See Surah 9:123 O ye who believe! Fight those of the disbelievers who are near to you, and let them find harshness in you, and know that Allah is with those who keep their duty (unto Him).
And the Muslim who fights and dies in jihad for Allah IS promised paradise. See Surah 9:111 Lo! Allah hath bought from the believers their lives and their wealth because the Garden will be theirs: they shall fight in the way of Allah and shall slay and be slain. It is a promise which is binding on Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur'an. Who fulfilleth His covenant better than Allah ? Rejoice then in your bargain that ye have made, for that is the supreme triumph.
Surah 9 is full of this kind of teaching from Mohammad. Not that "God is Great", but that Allah is the greatest and everyone must be in submission to Him or they deserve punishment from the hand of Muslims. See Surah 9:14 Fight them! Allah will chastise them at your hands, and He will lay them low and give you victory over them, and He will heal the breasts of folk who are believers.
Jews and Christians should be fought against because they are perverse and do not believe in Allah. See Surah 9:29,30 Fight against such of those who have been given the Scripture as believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, and forbid not that which Allah hath forbidden by His messenger, and follow not the Religion of Truth, until they pay the tribute readily, being brought low. And the Jews say: Ezra is the son of Allah, and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah. That is their saying with their mouths. They imitate the saying of those who disbelieved of old. Allah (Himself) fighteth against them. How perverse are they!
Are there verses in the Qur'an that also talk about tolerance toward those who do not believe in Allah? Yes. However, Qur'anic scholars clearly teach that those portions of the Qur'an were written earlier, and do not reflect the ultimate teaching of Mohammad on the topic of how to treat unbelievers. Surah 9 is certainly one of the sources used by jihadist Muslims who believe that shooting unarmed soldiers who are not in submission to Allah is doing the work of the greatest God and his prophet.
Jesus clearly taught that He had and revealed the truth for all mankind. He clearly taught that He is the only way to finding God and heaven. See John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." Jesus also taught that we are to love our enemies, and to pray for those who persecute us.
I pray that Maj. Hasan will come to understand that Allah is NOT the greatest. I pray that in prison he will find someone who will tell him about Jesus before he is executed for his 13 cold-blooded terrorist murders.
