Using campaign money for Christmas tips for the cleaning crew at his Ritz-Carlton apartment is a clear violation of Federal election law let alone Senate ethics! Federal election law prohibits candidates from using political donations for personal expenses, such as mortgage, rent or utilities for "any part of any personal residence." AP's John Solomon reported today that Reid used over $3000 of campaign funds as gifts to the cleaning crew of his apartment house listing them as salary and contributions!
Reid suggested this story is the "latest attempt" by Republicans to affect the election! Hmmmm, since when did the Republicans run Associated Press? In fact most of Sen. Reid's financial shenanigans as reported by the AP have been ignored by the MSM (Mainstream Media).
"I am reimbursing the campaign from my own pocket to prevent this issue from being used in the current campaign season to deflect attention from Republican failures." Yes Harry, wouldn't want anyone paying attention to YOUR FAILURES!
Harry Reid is certainly the man to "clean house" in the U. S. Senate. Those who help him can even expect a Christmas bonus ... an illegal one of course.
