Apparently we missed the civil war last week in Iraq. It was all over the news here in the U.S., but seems it didn't make the news in Iraq. Ralph Peters with the New York Post was on the ground with the U.S. Army in Baghdad last week, during the bombing of the Shia mosque, and saw a very different picture.
He traveled throughout Baghdad and reports on life in the city and their reception by the Iraqis. This isn't the story we will read in the Mainstream Media.
"As a result of its nationwide success, the Iraqi army gained tremendously in confidence. Its morale soared. After all the lies and exaggerations splashed in your direction, the truth is that we're seeing a new, competent, patriotic military emerge. The media may cling to its image of earlier failures, but last week was a great Iraqi success."
Both articles are well worth the read. (The NY Post requires a free registration to read some articles)
